ASUS ExpertBook Ultra Surpasses Mount Everest Altitude in Extreme Durability Test

ASUS

ASUS has demonstrated the durability and reliability of its latest business laptop, the ExpertBook Ultra, by successfully operating the device at an altitude higher than Mount Everest during an extreme environment experiment.

The laptop was lifted to 8,856 meters, surpassing Mount Everest’s 8,849-meter summit, and remained fully operational throughout ascent, descent, and landing. The test was designed to evaluate the notebook’s performance under real-world conditions that are difficult to replicate in traditional laboratory environments.

During the mission, the ExpertBook Ultra was exposed to temperatures as low as -42.5°C, significantly reduced air pressure, and varying levels of mechanical stress. ASUS mounted the device in a specially designed 3D-printed rig attached to a high-altitude balloon, which carried it into the upper atmosphere before it returned to Earth in a controlled descent.

“Durability is not just about passing laboratory tests; it is about delivering reliable performance in the real world, no matter how extreme the conditions.” – Tolga Özdil, Regional Commercial Director, META, ASUS

According to ASUS, the experiment aimed to assess how modern business devices perform when subjected to multiple environmental stress factors simultaneously. The laptop endured rapid temperature fluctuations, low air density, and physical impact before landing on wet ground at approximately seven meters per second, while continuing to function without interruption.

“Durability is embedded into our notebooks from the very beginning of the design process,” said Tolga Özdil, Regional Commercial Director, Middle East, Turkey & Africa (META) at ASUS. “The ability to deliver consistent performance regardless of environment is the clearest demonstration of product reliability.”

Built for professionals, the ExpertBook Ultra features a lightweight yet durable magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis, reinforced structural design, and extended battery life. The device is powered by up to the latest Intel Core Ultra X9 Series 3 processor, delivering up to 50 TOPS of AI processing performance for demanding enterprise and AI workloads.

The notebook also incorporates ASUS’ ExpertCool Pro thermal solution, enabling sustained performance and efficient cooling while supporting workloads of up to 50W TDP.

ASUS confirmed that the ExpertBook Ultra will be available across GCC markets starting July 2026, further strengthening its portfolio of AI-ready business computing solutions.
