UAE-based technology provider highlights role of Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager in developing the world’s first integrated resilience framework
Ankabut has recognized the contribution of its Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager, Shameerudin Sharief, in developing the newly launched Global Resilience Standard (GRS 1001-RN:2026), an international framework designed to unify organizational resilience practices across industries.
Published by Resilience Next, the Global Resilience Standard (GRS 1001-RN:2026) brings together business continuity, risk management, crisis management, cybersecurity, AI governance, ESG, and third-party risk management into a single auditable framework.
“We are proud of Shameer’s contribution to shaping a global standard of this significance. His involvement reflects the depth of expertise within Ankabut and our commitment to building resilient, future-ready digital environments for the education and research sector,” said Tarek Jundi.
The standard was developed collaboratively by 34 experts from 24 countries and included more than 316 individual contributions, 170 expert comments, and 530 tracked revisions during the drafting process.
According to Ankabut, Shameerudin Sharief contributed to the technical review and refinement of the framework, providing 31 documented inputs focused on strengthening operational requirements and ensuring practical applicability across diverse organizational environments.
The framework introduces a Global Resilience Management System (GRMS) built around four operational pillars — Prevent, Respond, Recover, and Return to Normal — alongside four management lifecycle stages: Define, Design, Embed, and Improve.
Ankabut said the standard’s emphasis on digital operational resilience, cybersecurity integration, and technology risk governance closely aligns with the company’s role as the UAE’s National Research and Education Network (NREN), supporting digital infrastructure for schools, universities, and research institutions.
Resilience Next developed the standard to move organizations beyond traditional compliance-focused approaches by embedding resilience as a continuous operational capability.
Ankabut added that participation in the initiative strengthens its position in resilience and governance discussions while providing early insight into evolving global resilience requirements and best practices for secure digital ecosystems.
