OPSWAT and Emerson Join Forces to Strengthen Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure Operators

technology environments.

OPSWAT, a global leader in critical infrastructure cybersecurity, has announced a strategic global reseller agreement with automation giant Emerson (NYSE: EMR) to enhance cybersecurity for power and water utilities worldwide. The collaboration brings OPSWAT’s operational technology (OT)-safe cybersecurity capabilities to Emerson customers, beginning with the integration of advanced OT patch management into Emerson’s Ovation™ Automation Platform.

As the first initiative under the enterprise-wide agreement, Emerson will incorporate OPSWAT’s purpose-built OT patch management technology to help secure industrial control environments without disrupting availability or performance. The solution is powered by OPSWAT’s MetaDefender Endpoint™ and My OPSWAT™ Central Management On-Premises, and forms part of Emerson’s cybersecurity suite tailored specifically for power generation, water, and wastewater operations.

“Cyber resilience for critical infrastructure starts with prevention-first security that is purpose-built for operational technology environments.”

— Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO, OPSWAT

Critical infrastructure operators continue to face escalating cyber threats from nation-state actors and ransomware groups, alongside increasing regulatory pressures and operational risks associated with unpatched vulnerabilities. Traditional IT-based patching approaches often fall short in industrial environments where safety, uptime, and deterministic operations are paramount. OPSWAT’s OT-focused solution is designed to address these challenges by safely managing vulnerabilities across both modern and legacy systems.

“Our customers need cybersecurity solutions designed specifically for operational technology not adapted from IT,” said Robert Yeager, President of Emerson’s power and water solutions business. “Collaborating with OPSWAT enhances our ability to protect the Ovation Automation Platform with a modern, OT-appropriate approach to patch management, while supporting safe and reliable operations.”

The Ovation Automation Platform is deployed globally across more than 800 sites and is widely used to operate mission-critical infrastructure. By embedding OPSWAT’s prevention-first cybersecurity capabilities, Emerson aims to strengthen resilience across essential services that underpin modern society.

“As automation, AI, and digital transformation accelerate across power and water infrastructure, the attack surface expands just as quickly,” said Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO of OPSWAT. “Partnering with Emerson allows us to deliver cybersecurity that is deterministic, scalable, and engineered for OT realities, helping protect the continuity of essential services.”

The agreement builds on the companies’ existing DeltaV™ Alliance partnership, which already includes OPSWAT solutions such as MetaDefender Kiosk™ and the MetaDefender Unidirectional Security Gateway™. It also reflects Emerson’s broader strategy of working with proven cybersecurity specialists to address evolving regulations and emerging threats.

Together, OPSWAT and Emerson aim to raise the security baseline for critical infrastructure operators worldwide, delivering practical, OT-safe cybersecurity aligned with the demands of modern industrial environments.
